Mentoring Support
Striving Together ProjectStriving Together Project
The Striving Together Project is a dedicated mentoring programme for neurodiverse children and young people aged 8-11, 12-15, and 16-25. Developed by SEN TALK in partnership with beneficiaries, this initiative has evolved over six years of collaboration with autistic children, young people with ADHD, and their families. It aims to support individuals at risk of exclusion, those facing emotional and behavioural school avoidance (EBSA), and those struggling to access appropriate education.

Our Mentors
Instead of trying to change individuals, the Striving Together Project employs a neuro-affirming approach that empowers participants. Young people work alongside mentors with lived experience, engaging in a collaborative process to identify barriers to their education and well-being.
Together, they develop the skills to overcome these challenges and achieve their goals.

Collaborative Approach
The success of this project is rooted in its commitment to a person-centered approach that encourages active participation from both mentors and mentees. This collaboration fosters trust, enabling participants to address their practical difficulties and challenges effectively. Our skilled mentors customise each program to meet the unique needs of mentees through comprehensive assessments and ongoing collaboration.
The Striving Together Framework has been thoughtfully developed in partnership with mentees who have engaged in mentoring at SEN TALK CIC since the launch of the Minds Matter Mentoring initiative in 2019. This initiative has become vital to our services, especially in the post-pandemic landscape. Through this partnership, we have identified key themes and focus areas that reflect insights gathered from those we serve.
